Marsden Primary School
Mill Lane
Tyne & Wear

Our school is a small village school on the edge of the village, with fields on two sides, and houses on the other two sides. We have 240 children from 3 - 11 years old. There are 30 children in each class. The Secondary school is 2km South, for children 11 – 16 years.

The children’s school day is 08:55 – 15.15, with lunch from 12:10 – 13:00. After school (15:30 – 16:30) there are clubs: football, netball, art, dance, library, guitar, drama, computer, gardening. The teachers give their time for these clubs for free; we do not get paid for running clubs.
My teacher school day is 08:15 – 1700, with lunch from 12:10 – 13:00, but usually I work most of the lunch break and only have 12:15 – 12:35.

>We live on the North East coast of England. The coast is beautiful, with cliffs, coves and yellow sandy beaches, though the water is rather cold. The village was a coal-mining village on the cliff top, but the coal-mine closed many years ago and the area is now a country park, with a lighthouse on the cliff edge, which we visit as part of our science and history lessons. Nearby is a limestone quarry. The town of South Shields is only 3 – 4 km North, and the city of Sunderland 3-4km South.

Here are some local views.
